I Learned me some new stuff! | Crave Mentoring

All in all i have to say that my very first ever online workshop was pretty darn great!

It was slated to start at 8:00pm and run for about 3 to 3.5 hours,

well i finally had to shut my session down at 1:20am!

Yes Andee taught and took questions from us until the wee hours of the morning!

i sure did learn a lot!

I learned about using layers and masks and in Photoshop

that i knew was there but didn't really know how to use properly!

I learned how to use the dodging and burning tools, to give more life and punch to my photos,

and i learned that using actions are just the beginning of a great editing process

and sometimes not needed at all!

It was really just great watching someone else edit photos for a change

and then get to pick their brain about the little things, ya know?!

I wont be sharing any of Andee's secrets with you, so if you want to know all about her fabulousness

then may i point you in the direction of her CLASS

I have to say that i have hummed and haughed over taking this class for 1.5 years now

and i am soooo glad that i finally jumped in and did it!

So Since everyone that knows me knows i learn better when i DO

here are some samples of that i learned last night....

I have struggled for sooooo long with my black and whites,

I have not found anything that i ABSOLUTELY loved....

I was BLOWN away when i saw Andee create a stunning black and white

image using ONLY her tools in Photoshop.

NO ACTIONS where used to create this black and white!

and i have to say that i love it!

so there you have it!

My interpretations of Andee's teachings!

then please don't hesitate any more!

what a GLORIOUS fall day!

Jen and Paul got married on October 29th 2011

my last wedding of year in fact, and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day for it!

everything seemed to go off without a hitch!

the girls made feel so welcome skulking about and snapping away,

I truly loved getting to know these two over the course of a year and a half,

the love they have for each other simply radiates from them.

and for years now i have just not had the time!

well, my friends this is the year for me,

i am MAKING the time...

i think the idea behind these challenges are to push yourself

creatively and to step outside of the box, so to speak!

TASHA.... One of THE best things you can do for yourself!! I did it 9 mths preggo then again like 7 mths or so after having my second child. The pics make you feel like a completely different person and raises your self confidence like you wouldn't believe! :) and Tisha makes you feel super comfortable the whole time and you end up Laughing your butt off the entire time and have so much fun!! I highly recommend!!

KAT..... Oh girls how I wish there was something I could say to change your minds. I have suffered for years not loving my image but after an afternoon filled with laughs with Tisha, I got some amazing photographs. I made a book for my husband with them and sent them to his military posting for his birthday. I have never felt so beautiful as I did that day and now I have pictures to prove it:) Do it!!! It is wonderful self esteem boost!

SHELLEY..... I had the absolute best experience! I just had a baby three months before i did my boudoir pictures so i wasn't the most confident but like everyone has said Tisha Johnson makes you feel incredibly beautiful. The pictures were STUNNING and i love that Tisha made me feel so good about myself!

well here we are, in 2012!

and if you take a little gander back you will sadly notice that the last time i updated my poor sad little bloggy blog was in June!! GAAAASP! I know its just downright awful isnt it!?

I mean i do really love talking to you all, and sharing some of what im doing and what i have been up to, but man oh man this year literally flew by!

I swear it was JUST may for crying out loud!

Anywho, I have all kinds of exciting stuff coming up this year...

I ordered some REALLY AWESOME mini top hats from Tricia @ POSH AND WHIMSY (go there NOW and check out her stuff she is ahhhmazing, seriously!) and when i got them in the mail i nearly fell over from the awesomeness of them! I mean wait till you see these things, i loved them sooo much that i went ahead and bought two more before i even had the chance to use the two i just got! lol Finally last friday the sun broke through the rain ridden skies and it was a glorious day. I asked my Photog BFF STACEY if i could steal her and her girls for a couple of hours of fun, she said sure and away we went....The first place we stopped was riddled with Stinging Nettle (if you dont know what it is google it and be on the look out cause it hurst like HE%$ to get stung, Sorrrrrrrry Emily xoxo) So we got a few shots there and off we went to the next location.....a beautiful apple tree that was blossoming, an old white picket fence screaming our names.....Thank you sooo Much STACEY, 1. for pimping out your daughters to me, 2. for trusting me to put on a crazy old dress, and 3.for being awesome! :o) I {heart} YOU!!

Oh and for those of you that want to get in on the mini top hat craze Tricia from Posh and Whimsy is the gal to go to! Her hats are really out of this world! you won't be dissapointed!

It all started because i was bored! Yep, the weather had been really really stinky for a LONG time, and i felt like i hadnt shot anything for years! So i enlisted my sister and Kate, and off we went to the beach! Kate is a breeze in front of my camera! And for me it is always fun taking pictures of my sister since i think she is a knockout!! So, a few months back i was on facebook killing time (procastinating) and i noticed that a friend of mine had commented on another photographers page something about a tea party shoot.....Well i was ALL over that one! lol i emailed Lor from MADNESS INSPIRING IMAGES and asked her if she would mind if we got together on this shoot...she wrote me back staright away and said yes!! WOOOHOOO we collaberated on what we wanted, what props, and colours and all that good stuff and planned for a April 21st shoot at Storbook Gardens in London Ontario. It had been threatening rain ALL week long but Saturday cam and it was NOTHING but beautiful blue skies and LOTS of gorgeous sunshine!! I was sooooooooooooooooooo pumped! yes ok enough chit chat and on with the goods! I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Lor for letting me have my way with you and your creative mind! And also BIG HUGE GIANT LOVE to, Chelli, Tanya, Stephanie, Stacey, and of course my girl Kat....You guys where amazing and was all my pleasure working with each one of you, and i can't wait to do it again!

Well as you can see, my Blogsite has a new fancy look!!

If you haven't heard about Coffeeshop or Rita, well then frankly

you have been living under a rock!!

Rita supplies us with a TON of free resources,

from actions and presets to frames and tutorials and sooo much more!

Rita is also a designer...She designs blogs and logo's and is AWESOME at it!

I mean just look at what she did for me!

I am absolutely in love with the new colour scheme and design, i think its very sleek

and pretty looking! Rita was also VERY patient with me when i had a bazillion

silly questions and colour changes!

It only took her 4 days from start to finish to have everything up and running for me,

Rita i know i have said it already but i can't thank you enough!!

Oh Blog Stalkers....

i had the absolute pleasure of taking pictures of the

BEAUTIFUL Tasha....We had origianlly booked an

outdoor maternity session that would include

her husband and her daughter, But because of the

wonderful Mother Nature we had to postpone....

Well Tash called me and asked if we could do something a little bit different!!

I was like SUUUUURE what did you have in mind?

She busts out Maternity Boudoir, and i was like

YES YES YES PLEASE!!! lol

To say i was excited to do these pictures is a HUGE understatement!!

I mean just look at how utterly GORGEOUS she is.....

Oh and FYI she went into labour two days after these where taken!

P.S. Ladies, if you have even given this type of photography the tiniest thought....

JUST DO IT!! You dont know how wonderful it makes you feel at 9 Months Pregnant!!

Hello Internet!!!

Just before christmas i me Adriana, Dale and sweet Savannah

HELLLLLLO Internet!

Loooong time no talk.... er type i guess that should say!

I know i have been MIA for the past little while, but i promise that wont be hapeneing anymore!

Part of my resolutions for this year is becoming a better blogger, and WAY more organized!

you see, i can readily addmit that i am NOT of the organized kind, in fact i

used to take pride in my very UNorganized life, lol ya go figure hey!??

This little man was such a doll!

I fell in love with him instantly when I saw him, but honestly how could I not have?

He was such a cutie, and so easy to photograph!

this was my VERY first time doing the WHOLE NEWBORN SESSION outdoors!

and i seriously cant recommend it enough! Baby "L" was such a trooper, he slept

pretty much the whole entire time for me!

I can't wait to see him again, and I'll have lots of opportunities to since I get

to do his 3 month, 6 month and year old photos!!

I've known Lori since high school, and it was great to

see her again and to meet her family!

some attention, well of course i was like hmmmmmmm cool photo-op!

and then when i had Dad help me move an old car bench seat, and ask them to sit

on it, there wasnt even a flinch!!

I first met Ashley and Kyle about a year ago when I

took pictures of their BEAUTIFUL little boy, and since

then I've absolutely fallen in love with the whole family!

(i mean i think i have a small crush on the whole lot of them!!)

with the little guy, and now its time to photograph their engagement!

So off we headed to the beach (which I LOVE) and away we went!

Ashley & Kyle are pretty much up for anything, so when i asked if they wanted some ice cream,

uniting on New Years Eve !!!

Anyone that knows me, know that i am a

(for lack of better word)

PROP WHORE!!!

I LOVE me some props, be it...a old box, a vintage pram, a great chair,

an adorable hat, an awesome headband...to, cool blankets and backdrops!

I love it all.....and i feel i NEED it all!! lol

even my clients/friends are always on the hunt for me, i can't tell you

how many times i have received messages or phone call from

someone saying that they have found this or that,

and they just know i would LOVE IT!!

Its just sooo great!!

(well maybe not so much for my dear hubby, as he is the one who is left

to find a spot for all of my fabulous finds!!)

So i guess you shouldn't be surprised when i tell you that almost a year

ago i found an awesome website called PROP INSANITY i mean i could find pretty much everything i wanted all in one little super awesome spot on the web!

PROP INSANITY has it all, from guest photographers sharing their stories with you to outrageous deals on your favorite props! They have forums for you to join and even a place to shop directly from their website, they also have contests a few times a month!

I'm telling you guys what Tracy and Gina have done here is nothing short of SPECTACULAR!

So you can imagine my excitement when back in March i received an email

from Tracy saying that my Newborn Prop Picture had been chosen as the winner!!!!

So i wrote up a few paragraphs about me, and how long I've been in the biz, and

why i am addicted to props, and what my faves are at the moment, and all that good stuff!

and there it was featured on "THE" PROP INSANITY BLOG

(it was like i was talking to a real live celebrity, seriously i was sooo darn excited!

I even sent the link out to all my friends and family!)

Ok, soooo fast forward to last week when i receive another email from Tracy, asking if would like to be a Guest Reviewer for a little shop called DESIGN STASH

I also go to meet there VERY quick on their feet Twin boys!

anyways, we had a great time, I met them at Matt's parents farm

which is 50+ acres of pure gorgeousness!! (yep i totally just made up that word!!)

we wandered around snapping here and there for a little while,

then Jessie drops the "there is a clearing and a stream down there, wanna go?"

I'm like uhhhhhh YA I DO!!! lol Matt ran and got the gator and off we where..

well i can honestly say that i have now!

Last week i had the absolute pleasure, in meeting

Reese and taking her pictures...and although she

gave me a run for my money (she is a GO-ER!) we had a great time and

got some pretty amazing pictures, if i do say so myself!!

Which by the way can i just say that

these are some of my favorite pictures to take!!

Why?? Well because i get to experiance

right along with the 1 year olds usually their first time

eating cake and icing!! Oh and its sooo much FUN!!!

the way they look at the cake as if to

say "really?? Your gonna let me just eat this?"

or "WOW that is SWEET!!!" lol

Well World, I finally caved!

i went out and took the plunge!

Yep, right into the beautiful world of Boudoir Photography,

After a LONG time researching i gathered inspiration

from the amazing Michele Dyson & Brooke Bowland,

and the uber talented Kristen Weaver and of course the totally fabulous duo

that makes up The Boudior Divas

oh and you have never heard of these photogs...GO NOW AND VISIT THEIR BLOGS!

man oh man i sure didn't know what i was missing!!

I really have no idea why i waited so long to dive into this world, but

seriously I could do this forever! Shelley and i had soooo much fun!

we recruited the insanely talented Hair and Make-up Artist Sherri Johnston,

who took what was in my head and completely Rocked Shelley's Make-up and hair!

and we all met at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Ingersoll

(where Kristy totally hooked us up! You Da Bomb Kristy!)

I have to admit that i was a little nervous, but as soon as i saw Shelley adorned in her fiance's

dress shirt and her hair and make up all sexy like, I knew this was going to be one of

my easiest jobs to date! And people it was! Shelley is a natural! And not only is

she a natural she is super duper gorgeous! And to boot she just had a baby 3 months ago!

Shelley I CANNOT thank-you enough for being my "guinea pig"

I couldnt have done this with out you!

You totally and completely ROCKED this session, I mean it!

You where AHHHHMAZING!

I hope you love them as much as i do! lol

Can i just get a little WOOOT WOOOOT!!! lol

Oh Internet, yesterday i had the PRIVILEGE to

take sweet little Marina's very first set of pictures!

And let me tell you that she was AAAWWWWESOME!!!!

I'm serious, one of the BEST babies i have had yet to photograph!

She fell asleep and pretty much let me have my way with her!!

We stopped for a small break for her to eat, but other than that

Marina was content to let me do anything!

Which pretty much means that i love her to pieces! LOL

But enough about me and onto the pictures!

Trashing the Dress with Lesley | Ingersoll, Ontario, Wedding Photographer

So last week I had the pleasure of yet again taking pictures of the

spunky and beautiful Lesley!!

She saw pictures that i did of the Three Girls and immediatly fell in love

with the location, as i did! (this is why we get along so well!!) So away we went wedding

dress in tow, I had her sitting on tires, leaning against old trees,

and laying in the grass! She was such a great sport!!

But this time her cutie patootie hubby, Tom will be joining us!

Can i just say that i SUPER DUPER LOVE this family!!

Miss C, is a lady after my own heart, aside from being one the best little posers

around, she worked her magic behind my camera as well!! She is definatley one creative little girl! Miss I, has such a soft spoken personality about her, everything she did was done

with love and carfullness, from the way she helped with her brother to the way she smiled!

She is gonna grow up to do amazing things, i can feel it!!

Mr B, is pure energy, with a smile that will light up any room!! he is forever on the go, and i have a feeling that mom is gonna have to Chase away the girls in the future!

oooooooooooooooo Baby Love, my baby love, i need ya, oh how i need ya!!!

(insert Diana Ross & the Supremes singing....here!! LOL)

I'm not quite sure why or how, but every time i look at sweet Baby J this song

just pops right into my head! I was editing away at her pictures, and here i am

singing this song to myself! (with very strange looks coming from my hubby!)

I met the Flood Family yesterday afternoon, and immediately fell in L.O.V.E with baby Jenny!

i mean seriously how could you not, the perfect chubby cheeks

and that infectious smile would get anybody!!

as i was going through their pictures to edit their sneek peek

i found that i just couldnt stop myself from doing just one more, then just another one

untill i realized that i had finished their whole session!!!

It is the fastest that i have EVER finished a whole Family session....But i really honest

to goodness could NOT stop! lol

The little headbands that Jenny is wearing are all from BROOKE

(go and see her stuff, i guarentee you, you won't leave empty handed!)

Her and i worked together to design THE PERFECT headband for a special project that

I have coming up in may/june!! All i had to do was say a few words, and she got me!!

I seriously LOVE her stuff, and you can see that she LOVES what she does!

you may remember about a month ago when i announced

that i was looking for MODELS, well i am here to officially

announce the 3 choosen ladies!

After you all sent me your pictures i forwarded them

onto Hair Dresser Extrodinaire (and my beautiful mother)

SAM KALBFLEISCH who was in charge of choosing the models

as she will also be the one to make your hair into art!

Sam, Also came up with a brilliant idea that i know i am super

stoked about!! Instead of just regular makeover the girls choosen

will be made into famous Girl Rockers from the 80's!!!

How Fun is that!!!???

Also i should mention that my wonderful and GORG go to make-up gal Sherri Johnston

will be in charge of transforming you all into these 80's icons!

A couple of weeks ago, i had the pleasure of taking

pictures of Miss. Leah and her Daddy,

First off let me say that Leah, you had me at hello!

(ya i went there, don't hate! lol)

With a head full of firey red hair and a face full of freckles, and two missing front teeth

i fell in love!

Not to mention daddy and daughter both had on chucks!!

LOVE IT!!

Now, onto the good stuff!!

we did some father/daughter pictures first.....i love how much they clearly admire one another!
